“When I am asked if there were any “great discoveries” in Oregon, I would mention Walter Scott without hesitation. This is a small bijou operation run by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon and their story is one of essentially risking everything to pursue their dream.”

Walter Scott Wines is a small Oregon winery specializing in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc from exceptional vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Their focus is to produce wines of elegance and purity, while conveying transparency of site and the character of the vintage.
The winery is located in the Eola-Amity Hills, surrounded by some of the Willamette Valley's most historic vineyards and overlooking the Cascade Range. Ken and Erica's love for winemaking is apparent in everything they do. They pour everything they have (including their life savings) into what they do and it shows.

Walter Scott La Combe Verte Chardonnay

The youngest vines of all the Chardonnay sites Ken and Erica work with go into this

Walter Scott Cuvee Anee Chardonnay

The Cuvée Anne Chardonnay is blended from Ken and Erica's best Chardonnay sites, including Freedom Hill, X Novo, Sojourner and Vojtilla Vineyards. It is a reserve blend that represents their vision of Willamette Valley Chardonnay. The juice was fermented with ambient yeast, minimal bâtonnage and aged in a mix of new and neutral 500 & 350 liter barrels for 12 months. The wine is finally racked and blended to stainless steel for an additional 3 months prior to bottling.

Walter Scott Freedom Hill Chardonnay

The Dusschee Family has been growing Chardonnay longer than most, putting lots of care into growing the best fruit possible since 1981. In 2012 Ken and Erica were lucky enough to start working with their fruit, getting access to one acre of Chardonnay and one acre of Pinot Noir. Today they now get three separate blocks of Chardonnay and three blocks of Pinot Noir in an effort to diversify the clones and blocks for co-fermentation. The site is now farmed by second generation Dustin Duscchee who is farming sustainably without irrigation, and is now moving towards organic. The wine is fermented with ambient yeast and minimal bâtonnage. It is aged in a new 500L puncheon, a once-filled puncheon and neutral puncheon for 12 months. The wine is racked and blended to stainless steel for an additional 3 months prior to bottling.

Walter Scott La Combe Verte Pinot Noir
La Combe Verte is composed from the volcanic Eola-Amity Hills vineyards of Distraction, Sojeau, Temperance Hill Vineyard, & Witness Tree, blended with the old vine fruit from the powerful, marine sedimentary soil of Freedom Hill Vineyard. This Pinot Noir is fermented with ambient yeast and aged in barrels for 10 months.

Walter Scott Cuvee Ruth Pinot Noir

… quite Meursault-like in personality in its early guise, delivering an aromatic constellation of pear, passion fruit, iodine, geranium-like floral tones, a beautiful base of chalky soil, incipient notes of the buttered nuttiness to come and a lovely foundation of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and shows off gorgeous mid-palate depth, with great precision and balance, zesty acids and a long, complex and very, very classy finish …. This is a stunning bottle of young chardonnay. Do not give into temptation and drink it too early in its evolution, as it has stunning potential!

00 Wines VGR

“VGR” Stands for Very Good Red. Grape clusters are destemmed by hand at the pedicel, leaving the berry intact whole berries are placed in 500L terra cotta amphorae imported from Tuscany, where they spontaneously ferment from the inside out with indigenous yeast. After primary fermentation, the juice is pressed off into French oak barrels and stays there for 8 months. Only 10% new French oak. Mild growing season in the Willamette Valley a very classic vintage.

00 Wines Richard Hermann Cuvee

Richard Hermann Cuvee is from an undisclosed site and is loaded with black raspberry eau de vie, crushed pine needles, anise, and fresh lavender. This is the best Pinot Noir I have tasted from the vintage so far and possibly the best wine from the region I have tasted. It delivers salty, mouthwatering persistence and a phenomenal, balanced mouthfeel, with a silky texture and even acidity, and it somehow gains purity all the way through the back palate. Lights out, greatness. Drink it over the coming decades. 221 cases were produced.

00 Wines Hyland

This savory Double Zero wine was sourced from the oldest Hyland block, planted in 1972. Whole berries were fermented in a terracotta clay amphora and then aged 16 months in 20% new French oak barrels. Aromatic with sharp notes of cranberry, strawberry and raspberry, the fruit is underscored with a dry minerality and a touch of lemon.
