The soil on the estate is incredibly unique and composed of clay, limestone, sand and granite - perfect components to create wines of greatness.

Our story is simple - La Caccia is inspired by an amazing piece of land in a part of Tuscany that has largely remained untouched for 1200 years. Dean Macfarlan having been involved in the renovation of the neighboring Castello di Casole, fell in love with the surrounding Tuscan hills, culture and people. In 2016, he saw an opportunity to plant the vineyards of what would become La Caccia.
For our 2018 vintage and beyond, Dean partnered with Michael Kennedy and Marc Gagnonwho now oversee all winemaking and vineyard operations. Together Dean, Michael and Marc want to express this site uniquely and purely to produce an authentic, organic wine reflective of the incredible land that surrounds it.
WINES
La Caccia di San Giovanni Toscana Rosso

Grown in ideal soils for Cabernet Franc composed of silt, clay, and sand. An ethereal expression of this majestic varietal. The nose is multilayered with dried violets, blood orange, deep blue and red fruits, and a classic tomato-leaf note that evolves into sage. Currently tasting oval-shaped and broad, the palate offers a rich texture that is balanced out by ample freshness and verve.

La Caccia di San Giovanni Olio D’Oliva

The Muir-Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon is a natural ode to classic Napa Valley with a modern framework. Bursting from the glass is an interplay of red currants, dark olives, and sandalwood, all enveloped by gorgeous florals of rose. The mouthfeel is focused and structured while still feeling lifted, qualities that make this wine age-worthy if desired.
