"This small estate's production is limited, but these wines merit attention..." - Robert Parker, Jr.

The Macauley Vineyard label was originally established in St. Helena in the early 1980s by Ann Macauley Watson and for several years produced a very well received late harvest Sauvignon Blanc with help from renowned winemaker, Ric Forman.
In the late summer of 2000, Ann’s son Mac went to work for Rudd Estate in Oakville. After several months of winery work and education he was inspired to revive the family label, and, working with winemaker and childhood friend Kirk Venge, crushed his first grapes in October 2001.
Mac and Kirk have one goal: to source the highest quality fruit in Napa Valley and make wines of extraordinary depth and personality. The grapes they choose showcase the terroir of the vineyards and create a remarkable wine-drinking experience.
WINES
Macauley Napa Valley Petite Sirah

Macauley Petite Sirah was most noteworthy for its wonderfully moderate summer temperatures and its steady sunshine. This wine hails from the revered Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga at the foot of the Palisades Mountains in Napa Valley. It is a magical setting, with soils consisting of volcanic ash, flecks of shale, obsidian glass, gravels of many colors and even some ancient river valley silt. It’s quite complex in composition and provides for a wine that interprets every nuance of this fabled terroir. Notes of plum, herbal tar, coffee and black cherry meet an exciting mouthfeel of fresh black plums, tart red fruits, barrel toffee and even a touch of espresso. It will have you waxing poetic with every sip. Aged in 60% new French oak for 22 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Macauley Pinot Noir

Elegant and poised, this wine is also darker than your average Pinot, pouring to a dense ruby color in the glass. Fragrances of cherry, dried currant, crushed flower and cooking spices appear on the bouquet, along with a trace of white pepper. Smooth and silky on the palate, the soft and expansive mouthfeel follows up with dense cherry and tart, red-fruit compote.
Macauley Stagecoach Cabernet Sauvignon

Stagecoach is a massive wine, with a focused bouquet of plum and currant at first, and after you allow it to breathe in the glass for a few minutes, you will experience the entire black-fruit spectrum. A blend of 99% Stagecoach I2B Block Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Oso Vineyard Petit Verdot, it shows a robust mouthfeel, and provides precise notes of chocolate-dipped cherry as you start to detect its fine, dusty tannins. This is all mountain fruit from the rare 685 cone, sitting at 1400 feet in elevation, aged for 28 months in 100% New French Oak. The 2018 Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is easily a 20-year wine.
