“The morning visit was to G.D. Vajra just outside Barolo, one of my very favourite producers, established in 1972 by Aldo Vajra. [...] Luigi Baudana vineyards combine robustness and elegance, while the single vineyard Bricco delle Viole is, for me, the Lafite of Barolo.”

WINES
G.D. Vajra Rosa Bella

Rosabella is a rosé de saignée, produced with the lighted touch in order to preserve the lightness and fragrance of our grapes. First produced between 2004 and 2007, Rosabella is a focus on Nebbiolo, with small amounts of Barbera and Dolcetto.

G.D. Vajra Riesling

"This is a wine that reflects the pioneering soul of Vajra. To my siblings and I, also the opportunity to fall in love with one of the most fascinating white varieties in the world." – Francesca Vaira

G.D. Vajra Barbera D' Alba

Our Barbera d'Alba comes from a wonderful range of estate vineyards. It is fermented for an average of 20 days and ages no less than twelve months, in respect of the rhythm of nature. This is a fine blend, a charming wine, rich yet forward.

G.D. Vajra Barbera Superiore

An outstanding example of Barbera from old vines, some dating back to 1949. Strained, deeply rooted plants produce the most tasteful berries. Vajra Barbera Superiore is a wine of intense aromatics, structure and longevity.

G.D. Vajra Dolcetto D’ Alba

We love Dolcetto. In the local tradition, this grape was cultivated on the best exposures, just above Nebbiolo parcels. Resonating with our own heritage, we dedicate only fine blocks to this variety, so to let it express with plenitude

G.D. Vajra Dolcetto D’Alba Coste & Fossati

Coste&Fossati is a collection of antique Dolcetto biotypes grouped by Aldo Vajra between 1979 and 1985. Cuttings were grafted in two of the estate best Barolo vineyards, Coste di Vergne and Fossati. These plants with a 'red stalk' create a limited production of the most intense and noble Dolcetto. This is a reservoir as it cannot be found elsewhere in modern days.

G.D. Vajra Pinot Nero

"When I started making Pinot Noir, I rediscovered gestures of my grandfather in the cellar. A wealth of experience, which from Pinot Noir, I began to pass down to the other wines." (Aldo Vaira)
G.D. Vajra Kye Freisa

"Kyè®: the sun or the moon? To us, this is the seduction of Freisa, an ancient local grape that is distinctive, fierce and untamable." (Milena and Aldo Vaira)

G.D. Vajra Nebbiolo

“This wine is our quest for the innocence of Nebbiolo, its purest expression.” - Giuseppe Vaira

G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo

"The true Beauty of Albe is the caress of the sun that rises three times every morning over our vineyards. It’s the exceptional simplicity of nature that makes the awakening of life an everyday miracle." - Milena Vaira

G.D. Vajra Coste di Rose Barolo

Coste di Rose is a small MGA in Comune di Barolo. It is located on a steep slope that arises from Bosco della Fava and descends swiftly towards the border with Monforte d’Alba. The greatest emotion is the one you feel when reaching the top of the vineyard: a five-meter tall dune of pure Arenarie di Diano stands out there, as the witness of the unique soil composition of Coste di Rose. These sands provide Barolo DOCG Coste di Rose with its distinctive character: tones of cherry and rose petals, mint and sweet spices, a silky tannin and a juicy sip.

G.D. Vajra Ravera Barolo

"I am intrigued by Ravera’s indomitable personality. It is crisp like the sound of a Telecaster, straight and electric." - Giuseppe Vaira

G.D. Vajra Bricco delle Viole

"Bricco delle Viole is the vineyard that taught us patience and naturally guided the style of our craft." - Aldo Vaira
